Reel History
My passion is family history documentation. I document family history through photos, video and audio. Every family has a rich history of people, places and things that make each family unique. Some families have been able to capture and keep family history artifacts. Others have lost valuable items over time due to household moves, fires, floods or theft. My job is to capture as much of your family's history as possible, restore what is damaged, archive and store what I find, and produce tools with it for you to share with your family members.
“If you do not know where you come from, then you don't know where you are, and if you don't know where you are, then you don't know where you're going. And if you don't know where you're going, you're probably going wrong.” ― Terry Pratchett, I Shall Wear Midnight
Create your own history.
Sidney & Company was able to partner with the National Museum of African American History & Culture for their grand opening September 2016 thru December 2017! See our NMAAHC page for our "Shades of the DMV" events during the grand opening that celebrated family history. You are still invited to bring your old family portraits to be scanned, restored and archived for future generations.
Photo Restoration Services
Many families have old family photos that have been damaged in some way or were not stored properly. The photo may have yellowed, been subjected to water or mold damage, become creased or torn, etc. Sidney & Company digitally captures what is left of the image and corrects it (color corrections, removes dust, dirt and stains, recreates missing sections, etc.). Then we size the image for optimum output at the size that you request - from wallet size up to 16x20 or larger - on the media of your choice (photo paper, watercolor paper, canvas, satin, metal, glass, etc.). We can also create family slideshows and family photo albums that you can share with other family members. After your image is reproduced, we save the image on the device that you select (dvd, flashdrive, external hard drive, cloud, etc.) and forward it to you.
Family Documentation Services
Most families have family reunions. Some have them every year, others only have them once every twenty years. Most fall within these two points. Family reunions are an optimum time to gather more family history and disseminate it among the family. Unfortunately, because family artifacts can sometimes be so rare, thus valuable, family members tend to hold onto what they have and don't want to share it with others, for fear of loss. For this reason, so much family history is loss when there's a death, fire or theft. Sidney & Company uses digital imaging services to capture and copy family artifacts to enable families to share - and preserve - family history for generations to come. We can come to you on-location and document your artifacts while you watch. Or we can arrange for insured pick-up and delivery services.
Family History Share Services
All family history should be shared. There are a variety of methods to do this: copies of photos, video or audio files, photo albums, photo & video slideshows, family websites, family photo share sites, dvd's, flash drives, external hard drives, or email. The method you choose is the method we use. We will back-up and archive any work that we perform for you, and format it in the way that works best for your family. We can also show you how to use each method, so that new images can be continually added over time. Custom albums can be created to give as gifts or to document a particular event. Family reunion books can also be created for you - capturing family matriarchs, patriarchs, property, marriages, births, etc. - your rich family history documented forever.
